Person of Note - Stamps

I did numerous gouache paintings of hairstyles and microphones in my sketchbook and these are the final ones I will be importing into photoshop and making into stamps. The decades I chose were the 40s, 50s, 60s and 80s mainly because these were the decades where I found the most interesting and different hairstyles. I don't think it matters that I have missed the 70s because this range still shows the span of her career.

Hairstyles

Microphones

for the 1960s microphone, I need to combine these two components on Photoshop because I wasn't entirely happy with the first one. My way of thinking about Photoshop has definitely changed since being on

I put these into photoshop, cut them out from their backgrounds and arranged them inside the given dimensions. I decided to go with this basic composition because it kept things simple which I think works better on a small scale - you don't need to look closely to understand the image.

1940s

1950s

1960s

I had some trouble with this one because I had drawn the microphone at an angle so it looked unbalanced in the frame and didn't fit in with the other stamps. I altered this so only the top of the microphone was visible, I still wasn't sure about this because of the distinct difference in size of this mic compared to the others. However, I then realised it shows how technology is developing and things are becoming more compact.
1980s

I will turn these all to greyscale and then start experimenting with adding some markmaking into the background. I am happy with the consistency of these stamps and at the moment I feel they are going to work really well as a set because they have the same format.
