This is the composition I want to take forward. I need to lower the band slightly so that the trumpet players head isn't touching the hat.
I added the pattern and the square for the band to sit against - I think this makes them stand out more against the pattern, especially because the band members are purely black and white, they didn't stand out enough.
I thought about adding a grey wash to Norman but I think this confuses the foreground and background so it is best for him to stay white.
I experimented with adding a spotlight on Ella but I thought I was unnecessarily making this more complicated. Instead, I extended the grey rectangle across the whole postcard so it didn't look so much like it was floating.
