Ive been struggling with the music aspect to the animation. I had previously found some free downloadable pieces of music but I couldn't find anything which connected really well with the theme. I found an album which is a collections of music from the Poirot series by Christopher Gunning and I thought this might be a good starting point to explore. I say starting point because don't want to copy the music which has already been used for Christie's music as I feel this was a choice relating to that creative's interpretation of her work. I need to find my own music to represent my interpretation of her work.
In an effort to become more knowledgeable of this style of music I am going to listen to it more and also explore other musicians who work with similar sounds. For example, Stephen Warbeck, Joel McNeely and William Ross who have all completed soundtracks for films. I am hoping that by listening to a broad range something will connect with the work I am doing and I will understand what I need to search for when looking for copyright free material.
I have been thinking about the origins of the music too and initially thought the composer should be British because Agatha Christie is seen as this typically British lady. However, I don't think it matters too much because music from other countries could suggest her sense of adventure and need for exploring. I'll just have to see what I connect with.
