Brief Analysis - Illustration Friday

I know this isn't one specific brief because the themes change and a new winner is announced every week. I just think that something fast paced like this will get me back into drawing and thinking constantly outside of my normal course briefs. I think it will be a good break from my other modules and will make me think on the spot and make work quickly. It might give me more of an insight into working in the editorial industry for example where briefs are very short, often less than 24 hours.

What is the problem?
A different theme word is set every week and the task is to create an illustration responding to that theme.

How do I aim to solve the problem?
Getting into my sketchbook and thinking and drawing a lot!
Trying not to look at other people's entries and aiming for something original.

What will I be aiming to communicate?
The tone of the competition is described as 'fun and free' so I think it is basically a way to get creative and come up with some interesting outcomes.
My illustration will need to be a bit different and stand out if I want it to get notice but this will be challenging considering the wide range of styles visible on the website.

Who is my audience?
I suppose this depends on the theme because different themes have different connotations and audiences.

I think these questions will change depending on each week's theme but this is just an overall view of the style and tone of the briefs and what they might expect.
