In my evaluations for most of my project, I mention that I should have tried using digital media to enhance my work so I saw this as the perfect opportunity to give it a go. I am not very confident with photoshop but using the notes from the workshops we had previously, I started by adding colour to my pencil drawings.
These two are the same image but in the one on the right, I changed the layer type to multiply to allow the black to show through stronger. I think the one on the left looks a lot more gentle and soft which would be appropriate for a relaxing scene with a cup of tea. However, the darker style on the left may be more appropriate for not such a nice atmosphere.
These are more of my drawings I added colour to digitally using a multiply layer - I quite like the graininess of the pencil that shows through here as you can see the hand crafted quality of it. I played around with the opacity of my brushes to capture the shadows on the clothing and skin.
As I had added colour to my pencil drawings, I felt like I should see how my ink drawings looked with colour on them. Although I personally like the aesthetic of this image, I am concerned it is trivialising the subject of my book.
