I had been giving the order of my book a lot of thought. I knew I wanted the book to show a gradual realisation of the truth behind a cup of tea but I also wanted to show the contrast between the lives of the tea pickers and our western lives. Initially I had wanted a double page spread at the centre of the book somehow showing a transition between the two cultures but I have decided to move this forwards to allow more space for the stories of the tea pickers. I think the 'typical tea' imagery needs to be kept to a minimum so that people don't lose interest too soon. I am still unsure on the order of the ages towards the end so this is something I need to look into more.
I am also making mockups as I go along which you will find clipped into my sketchbook.
At the moment I am focussing a lot on the double page spread showing the transition. These are some roughs from a sketchbook earlier in the project, I am taking forward the idea on the bottom left.
Problem: I started to think more about composition and the different components I needed to include in my image which led me to a problem with including a milk carton. I wanted to put the top view of a milk carton in the image to match the viewpoint of the initial roughs but the milk wasn't instantly recognisable by my peers when I asked them what the drawing was of.
Problem Solving: Taking photographs of the components made me realise that scale was also an issue and including the milk would overcrowd the image, so I reverted back to my initial roughs to move forward with.
