The composition looked very one-sided at this point and there was a lot of space on the right which didn't really have a purpose. I decided to make this look like more of a desk space so I drew may macbook and incorporated this into the image.
In hindsight, I should have considered the viewpoint more carefully but seeing as the style of these images are not truthful to reality, I felt it added to the quirkiness of perspective.
I have become increasingly confident using the Wacom tablet so I added the dark brown creases using this and also put the white checked pattern on the shirt (trying to follow the contours and creases of the garment). I surprised myself that the pattern turned out this well. I am also adding more textures to my drawings now, for example on the table, I think this is another small connection that will keep the images working as a set.

This page is probably the most complex in terms of composition and the amount of information I am including in one frame.
So far, this is the image I am most proud of because all of these drawings have been developed from observation drawings done on my research trips (Cafe Nero, Swiss Cottage Antiques and general observations around Leeds). I would have liked to have felt this way about all of my images but due to the topic of my book, I am having to work from found imagery a lot.
I am finding photoshop as a valuable tool when considering composition. Although I am sketching out my ideas for composition too, I am finding that I am coming across different arrangements by accident while I am moving the components around the page. It is similar to the advice given in the text we read in a recent visual language task but I think this is made even easier when using digital media because resizing is so simple. I finally decided on this composition with a sting vertical line almost at the centre to break the image up. I also decided to put a frame behind the man's head because I thought the brown wall would drown him out. Making the city more faded gives a sense of depth and overall, I feel I have achieved a clear foreground, mid ground and background here.
The image in the newspaper is actually a simplified image of the girls at the agency later in the book. I thought I would include this here to show that we read information about world issues all the time but don't necessarily think about how our actions are affecting these problems. I understand it is not very noticeable but I thought I would explain my thinking behind it anyway.
When it came to adding colour, I wanted the scheme to work across the double page spread. Seeing as I had already completed the image on the right, I wanted this one to balance it out. I added colour to keep the two pages balanced, it starts off in the bottom left corner, the colour reaches up to the top middle and then drops back down to the far right corner.
