Tea Revives the World - Research

Magnificent Maps - Peter Barber and Tom Harper
p.169 - Tea Revives The World
Map by MacDonald Gill, 1940

Although a lot of the facts and statistics in this map are out of date, I still gained some information and interesting sayings and quotes which I have recorded in my sketchbook. It highlighted the clear relationship between Britain and India as they are, respectively, the main importers and exporters of tea.

  • India is the largest tea supplier of tea in the world.
  • Assam is the centre of India's tea trade and the first Assam tea ever exported was to England in 1858.
  • The people of the British Isles are the world's greatest tea drinkers and it was first introduces to the country in 1657.
  • There are more facts and quotes from this map in my sketchbook.

I am also using this book, 'The True History of Tea', to learn some more interesting facts about my topic. (Library Ref: 641.3)
