I got a few comments saying I had done a lot of sketchbook development work and it was clear that my idea has progressed and also that I have done some good visual tests and experiments with media. However, I feel I need to do a lot more of this before I am totally clear on what my book is going to look like.
I am glad people can understand the meaning and storyline of my book so far because this is crucial to its purpose of raising awareness of this issue. I am also pleased people found it interesting because I have found it an interesting topic to research. Comments including the words 'educational', 'hard-hitting' and 'emotional response' have reassured me that the tone of my project is staying on track and people are reacting to it how I had hoped.
The next step:
- More media experiments to develop on what I have produced so far. The pencil drawings with colour added on photoshop are my strongest images so far (in my opinion) but I want to see if I can push these further, maybe evoking more emotion.
- I need to make a mockup to scale so I can start to imagine how big the different components will be on each page.
- See if I can simplify some of my detailed pencil drawings, maybe experimenting with more wet media, e.g. gouache.
