Picture Book - Experimenting with Gouache

In light of my conversations over the past few days with staff and peers, I have decided to move away from the pencil drawings and to continue experimenting with different media to try and capture more emotion in my images. I haven't used gouache to a great extent before so I wanted to push this media to see what I could achieve, during this process I combined it with ink, collage and tippex.

I like the fluidity this media has, almost like ink in some cases, but it can also have a rougher texture if used without adding any water. For example, I used the paint directly from the tube onto paper to create a more textured finish for the image on the bottom left. I feel like these experiments have more emotion and character in them than than the pencil drawings I did previously in which the people looked a bit vacant. I think these images are communicating more effectively and aren't just showing what something looks like.
