Initially (day 1)

When I was given the brief of creating an illustrated A-Z typology poster of myself, I tried to think of topics I had a good knowledge of so I would have plenty of ideas to fit against each letter without much research. I thought about themes personal to me such as places I want to see and things I want to do and achieve in life but then felt that I wanted to work with a theme that related to other people as there would therefore be more people able to connect with and understand my work.

The first theme I made a list for is things related to my hometown of Loughborough. Obviously I have a good knowledge of this topic so I felt this was a good starting point. This isn't a theme that everyone would be interested in but there is certainly a market for a poster like this as residents, students and visitors to the town would probably find it interesting.

My A-Z of things found in or associated with Loughborough
I managed to come up with more than one idea for some of the letters which explains why there are more than 26 drawings below. Drawing a range of ideas will help me select which ones I would want to include in my final poster if I choose to take this theme forward.

A - N

O - Z

I feel I need to be less precious about these drawings as I need to complete 260 in one week. I am glad I have noticed now, on the first day of the brief, that I need to work at a faster pace so I can plan my time effectively this week to keep myself on track. I am pleased with my drawings for this theme but I feel they are quite obvious images to include and a lot of them are buildings. When choosing other themes I may think of some more conceptual ideas to challenge my illustrating skills beyond working from memory or from a photograph.
