Today, in the studio, I produced an A-Z based on superpowers. It was more interesting trying to show the superpower in my image rather than just drawing objects like I have been previously doing. I think the images of the hand touching the flower and different things happening (death touch, healing touch, liquification) work well because they tie the images together as a set. A few people commented saying they liked my use of horizontal lines to show the darkness in my night vision and x ray vision drawings. I think it is an effective way of showing this without solidly filling the area and I may use this in future drawings to give the impression of darkness. I feel some of these drawings could be simplified and still be understandable such as the escapology drawing could just be of chained up hands breaking free and this would still get the idea across.
In the evening, I drew out this sheet which shows a range of things related to festivals. I have drawn a lot of objects from reference here but I think one of my best drawings on this sheet is the 'queueing' drawing which I had to think up myself to get the idea across. I think I need to learn to trust the idea in my head rather than getting caught up in using reference material too early in the process of planning my drawings. If I decide to take this idea forward, I think I need to think of a new idea for the letter 'O' because i'm finding it hard to show 'open space' in a drawing. Maybe the word 'outdoors' could be shown more effectively.
