This evening, I completed drawings for another theme. Yesterday I realised I was taking too long with each drawing so today I opted to use two permanent markers of different thicknesses so I had to make a commitment with the lines I was making and wouldn't get caught up in erasing mistakes to make the drawings more accurate. This worked really well for me, the drawings took a lot less time but still contain more than enough detail as roughs.
I chose the theme of shoes because I love to draw shoes; I find this subject matter really interesting as there are so many different variations, styles and unusual shapes.
A-Z Ideas:
Ankle boots, Birkenstocks, brogues, boots, bowling shoes, converse, cowboy boots, crocs, clogs, court shoes, Doc Martens, deck shoes, espadrilles, flip-flops, galoshes, golf shoes, gladiator sandals, heels, high-tops, ice skates, jelly shoes, jump boots, kitten heels, kung-fu shoe, loafers, moccasins, mules, Mary Janes, Nikes, orthopaedic footwear, open toe shoes, over-the-knee boots, platforms, peep-toe, pumps, Queen's shoes (?), roller-skates, ruby slippers, running shoes, riding boots, stilettos, sandals, slippers, snow boot, steel toe boots, Timberlands, T-bar, underwater shoes, Uggs, Vans, wedges, walking boots, winkle pickers, wells, X, Y, Zories
There were so many ideas for this theme but I struggled to think of something for Q, X and Y. I improvised on Q by drawing a shoe potentially belonging to the Queen and I feel I could do something a bit imaginative with the other two letters as well (maybe an X ray shoe which shows your skeleton?).
I think this is a theme with a broad variety of people who would be interested in having these drawings on a poster. This could work especially well if I stuck to the theme of female or male shoes so I could narrow down the target audience I am working with and adapt the style of the poster to accommodate this. Although this brief requires me to make a poster, I can imagine this idea being developed into an advertisement or wall mural for a footwear store.
