Responsive Interim Crit

These were the presentation boards I had laid out for the interim crit along with my feedback sheet. Overall I was really pleased with the feedback I received. Because I have been working on this over Christmas, I haven't really had the chance to get some proper feedback on my work so far so it was nice to hear what people thought of it and also to see what other people have been doing. Seeing that some people have already completed their substantial brief made me think that I need to get a move on.

Response to Feedback

Illustration Friday - I received general good feedback on this. I didn't put any of my development work for these images on my boards but I was glad that people could still tell that I have been using and experimenting with a range of processes. I am using the illustration friday briefs as a way to keep trying new things and keep myself working to a short timeframe and I am learning from this. One thing I was surprised by were the comments I received about the unicorn image because I personally hate it and even considered not including it but it actually received a good response. I guess it is down to taste and it just shows that the level of craft is not always the most important thing, sometimes initial impact is what attract people.

Fever Tree - I received positive feedback for the research and ideas I have come up with for this brief. This was what I needed feedback on the most I think, its not that I need approval from other people before I go ahead with an idea but its nice to have some reassurance that others understand your concept and think that it is a good thing to work with. I feel like I will be able to crack on with this brief now and really get into it. Someone suggested doing some media experimentation based around the subject matter of my initial drawings and I agree that this should be my next step. Trying out different media might help me discover something that I hadn't thought of before.

Presentation Boards - People commented that my work was clean and well laid out which was nice to hear because I like to keep my work organised. I am glad I didn't try to overfill the page and cram it full because it meant that my drawing had breathing space and people could follow the sequence easily - I think this is something I should take forward to my final presentation boards to keep them looking professional.
