Fever Tree - Idea Development

This is some development work I have done on a couple of ideas for this brief. The first one is based on the mosquito wings, I looked briefly at layout and then went onto cutting up some maps. I cut some maps out in the shape of wings and photocopied them in black and white with different brightness and contrast levels. I like how the pattern comes through but I am not sure about the idea as a whole. I think mosquitos are a very cliché thing to use for this topic and I want mine to be a bit different with a stronger concept.

My other idea was the bark from the cinchona want, from which we get quinine. Quinine is used to treat malaria and is also an ingredient in tonic water which makes it a key link to the two themes I need to be working with. I think this is my strongest idea so far but because I haven't really shown anyone this work yet, I am intrigued to see what feedback I get at the interim crit.

I am looking at using the bark as a way of showing the map of the country. I am either using one piece of bark and using the lines in it to show the region borders of the country or using separate pieces to build up one larger shape. I think this could be a simple yet effective design that would look sophisticated and on trend but also having a deeper meaning. I was looking at ways to fill the space around it and I am undecided so far, although I don't want to use the mosquito idea. Mosquitos aren't associated with many positive things at all so this might become a deterrent to buying the product which I don't want.
