Printing (in the print room)

I was in the print room today and started with printing the components for my animation. I have included my two most successful prints on page 1, the top set are included because I like the texture. However, I don't think these are any better than the ones I printed at home. The bottom set are the clearest, they would need to be cleaned up on photoshop because there are marks around the edges which I didn't expect would print, but they have. If I wanted these to appear more subtle in my animation then I could lower the opacity.

The prints on pages 2 and 3 are on bulky newsprint which is off white. These were done with quite a low pressure on the press so there are textures coming through, some parts haven't printed as clearly as I would have likes though and it makes the print look patchy.

Pages 4 and 5 are secondary prints with more packing in the press to make the pressure stronger. I like the grainy texture of these and they are more subtle yet the print is even which is good. I am concerned how these would be with a second colour applied to them, I would be concerned that another colour might drown out these prints.

The next prints I have included are in sets, these are my two most successful sets of prints from today and I think I will be choosing between these two when selecting the ones to add the second colour to. They are both very similar, the first set were on thick white paper with a smooth surface and the second set was on textured paper. You can't really tell it is on textures paper unless you look closely, because the print has transferred well it hasn't really picked up the grain a lot.

Overall I am really pleased with my outcomes from today. It means I can now get on with the next steps of my project. Being in the print room really shows that using the correct tools and materials can make a real impact on your work. Looking back at the prints I did at home the other day, I can see that the prints from today are of a much higher quality.

My next steps are to put these images into photoshop, add the second colour and prepare them for digital print. For my animation, I can now get on with making all of the components and fitting them into the draft that I already have.
