Pinterest is good for inspiration but anyone can post to Pinterest and it is good to look at illustration you know is done by someone with a reputation in the industry.
- Look at the Central Illustration Agency (CIA) for more reputable sources.
- Chris Brown
- Jeff Fisher
Animation is the thing that I am avoiding at the moment as I am really into the making of still images and experimenting with print. For animation using after effects, I need to simplify things.
- Work with paper cuts, but simple shapes, and move them around on the table.
- Take photographs of some stills.
- What do I want the content of my animation to be?
Animal work is nice, good use of metaphors. I am probably avoiding drawing people because I struggle to create characters so end up normally just drawing from reference which can often lack in meaning.
- Experiment with mono printing.
- Try drawing over printouts.
- Think of areas I haven't looked into in much depth yet - clothing from the time of the stories, faces, buildings, etc.
