Composition - Screen Printing

Mixing colours

Exposing Screens

Washing screens after exposure

Clamping screens to screen print bed

Flooding the screen

Aligning pages for second colour

Base colour - I am happy with how the pink colour turned out. I was slightly worried during the colour mixing stage that it may be too light because it is difficult to tell how the colour in the pot will appear when thinly printed onto paper.

Prints
Even after changing the pink layer on Photoshop to overcome the issue of overlapping colour, I think I must have printed the earlier saved version and not the final version because the pink ink has overlapped the man's face when I had planned for this to be pure white.

Well aligned print

After doing some prints that lined up well, I wanted to see what it would look like if i purposely shifted the paper to cause overlapping and more white gaps. I like the one on the left as this is quite subtle and looks a bit like a drop shadow.

I am pleased I remembered how to do screen printing from the one week book project, it is a process I am becoming more and more comfortable with each time I do it. I am upset that the pink has overlapped onto the mans face but this was my own fault for not checking my positives thoroughly enough to ensure everything was in the right place. I think the line of sight in this image is the most successful compositional device because the man's arm clearly leads to the woman sleeping and other things such as the corner of the bed side table, the photo frame, the creases in the sheets, the stripes on the rug, the cutlery and the pull cord all draw your attention towards her. I am also pleased with my use of foreground, mid ground and background as I feel this is clear when you look at the image.

I think to improve this I could have included more pink in the bottom half of the image, maybe adding some pink stripes on the rug as well as green. Obviously I would also change the mistake in my positives mentioned earlier. I put my print into photoshop to show what I had wanted it to look like.
