Fever Tree - Research

I feel like I really need to be getting a move on with this brief because the deadline is getting closer and closer. I have finished all of my small briefs and my collaborative brief is coming along so I should have more focus on this brief now. I feel I have hit a point in this project where I have a concept but am struggling to decide on a style. I thought, to help this, I would look at other bottle designs to see what works and what I could relate to my design.

Evian - Elie Saab
  • Subtle and delicate design.
  • I like that the drink inside can be seen through the design, especially because it is clear, it emphasises how clean and pure it looks.
Palm Gin & Tonic
  • The colours used are representative of the fruit flavour of the drink.
  • This is more relevant to my brief because the design has the constraint of a label.
Mind Compound/Formula
  • I think this is  a really clever design, it makes it look like the plant is inside the bottle when it is actually just a label.
  • I like the natural theme of this, it links to my ideas for the brief so far.
Ech2o
  • This is very different to the approach I have taken with this brief so far and I don't see shape-based designs as a strength of mine.
  • I like the textures used here, this is something I might want to incorporate into my designs, maybe monoprinted textures, ink textures or found textures.
Mermaid Bay
  • This is an inventive approach to labelling. The design is almost like a piece of art and it tells a story.
  • This would be something you would want to keep which is relevant to my brief of this being a limited edition bottle.
Wild Roots Vodka
  • This takes a realistic and traditional approach to drawing.
  • It celebrates the natural ingredients in the drink which is relevant to the quinine that is present in Fever Tree tonic water.
  • I think the drawing style would need to be modernised for a more sophisticated and interesting design for this brief.
Mount Franklin
  • This design inspires me to work with colour, all of my work so far has been in black and white. Colour might help me get across the theme of the country more clearly.
  • Natural themes are relevant to the brief.
  • This design is decorative and refreshing, I want my design to be decorative but still have a purpose and meaning.
After looking at other designs that are out there, I feel like I need to decide on a solid design soon and get into the actual making of it to ensure that I have enough time to make it high quality and well crafted. I need to get back into my sketchbook and start designing within the constraints of the label rather than just thinking of what I could draw. I think keeping the design simple but spending time making it high quality is the best way to go to make this design sophisticated. I don't want it to be too 'in your face' because that doesn't match the tone of voice of the company or the charity campaign.
