From thinking about what to write in this proposal, it has become clear to me that I really want to improve my observation drawing skills because I think this is something that has deteriorated in the past year. I don't mean reverting back to a realistic style, just being able to effectively record visual information whilst on location. This will also encourage me to get out and see things in the real world rather than just relying on the internet for visual reference material.
I have noted down a few specific subject which I might be interested in pursuing, at the moment 'nature in the city' is my favourite as I think the contrast between these two things would provide the bass for some interesting imagery and investigation. I will have to see how my research goes over the next couple of weeks. I know this doesn't seem very concise or to the point yet but it is slowly helping me narrow down what I want to pursue in this brief.
I briefly spoke to Ben in the studio today and he reminded me not to get caught up in the outcome too soon because my direction might totally change over these next few weeks of research. I think he is right, if I have an idea of some potential outcomes in my head it might make me dismiss other potentially better possibilities which I don't want to happen. He suggested that finding some relevant articles to my chosen area of interest might help narrow down my theme into something more specific and would also give me the chance of doing some editorial illustration that is relevant.
