I See Faces - Gif Research

I searched for gifs online to start getting some ideas flowing on how I could create my own. I haven't really done any animation work before so I am not sure how far my current skills will get me with this brief. These gifs above are simple examples of how things can be animated, I particularly like the simplicity of the banana and the fact you can clearly see how the animation has been done. On the other hand, the men with moustaches gif looks a lot more complex and I am unsure how I would go about making something like this.

Time May Change Me - Helen Green

I like this gif because it has a clear narrative and it is easily understood that it is showing the evolution of David Bowie throughout his career. These images are pencil drawings with colour added, I am presuming in pencil crayon.  It stood out to me because there is a clear investment of labour and craft gone in to each individual image even though each frame is only shown for a fraction of a second.
