I briefly spoke to Matt about my ideas so far as I felt really confused as to which ones I should progress with, even after my group crit. This talk made me realise that I was overcomplicating some of my ideas and that it can sometimes work better to not make everything obvious to the people viewing my images, leaving some information out and allowing them to work out the meaning for themselves can lead to more interesting, intriguing and powerful work. I think I will continue to develop my fair-trade idea for my type piece and maybe buy some bananas and see what shapes I can create from them to create letterforms.
I will also consider having something visible in the mirror, maybe a really ugly face or an evil looking silhouette to humorously contrast the idea of being the 'fairest'. The next thing to consider is what media I am going to use so I will spend some time in the studio experimenting with this.
