I made a conscious effort to loosen my working style to take advantage of the freedom given to me in this brief and to move away from media and techniques I am used to working with. I opted to use wax crayons because they are a harder medium to control and I took on board feedback from previous weeks placed my drawings onto backgrounds that weren't plain white. I tried to exploit the wax crayons, learning about how they can be used in different ways to create different marks. They are a messy medium to work with so I feel I have done well to keep my backgrounds free of crayon marks.

The negative feedback  received for my image of the child crying was mainly asking why the child thinks something is not fair, this question actually proves the success of this image because they have understood the meaning of it which was the idea of 'Its not fair'. In the development stages of this idea, I did play around with incorporating a narrative of why the child is upset but in the end opted for a method of communicating the message that was more instant and people could think of their own story behind it. However, in future, I could try to give suggestions of a narrative in an image like this as this would require more thought and consideration in pushing my ideas further.

I decided to take a risk for this brief and not stick to an obvious colour scheme and test my ability of making images work as a set in another way. I received quite a few comments on my feedback sheet saying that more consistent colours were needed and that I should have used a colour scheme. My positive comments contradict this by saying that even though the colours are different, they still work together as a set. Personally, I feel that what I was trying to do with colour was quite clear but I do see why my images don't work as a set in a way as obvious as other people's outcomes. I think colour is something I am still not totally comfortable with so I will continue to experiment with this aspect in future briefs until I find something that works really well.

In hindsight, I think I should have put a face, silhouette or something representing an outline into the mirror. I thought up with a few ideas for what I could do for this but I feel I dismissed the idea too early without exhausting the possibilities.
