Happy Documentary

I watched a documentary called 'Happy' which followed a team travelling the world searching for what made people happy. There were interviews with real people and talks with scientists, I can't say the film was really inspiring but it did highlight a few things for me to consider in my work. These are some points and quotes I took from the documentary.

The ability to move and be active is linked to your ability to be happy. So much time has been spent researching depression and mental health but the amount of time spent on researching happiness has been minimal in comparison. As people, we are such a small part of the earth. 'Nature, its a good medicine.' 'Something about watching birds fly just makes my mind wander.' Karōshi is the Japanese words for working yourself to death, it is so common there that it has been given a name.

I did some drawing in my sketchbook while the film was on but I have to admit that what I drew wasn't entirely focussed on the film because I was at the point in the project where I knew the themesI was working with and didn't want to stray too far from them. This probably was not the best approach to have as I could have discovered something new through drawing.
